Paul Gavin

Hey! I’m Paul Gavin.

I’ve been making my entire living as a freelance musician for a little over 4 years now. I’m no rich man, but I’m financially stable, and all of that comes from playing, teaching, and writing music.

When I was younger I had a lot of people telling me what I’m doing wouldn’t be possible and it’s led to an obsession with proving that making a living as a musician is indeed possible. That’s where this project came from. In as many ways as possible this Tampa, FL drummer wants musicians all around the US, and maybe the world, to know that with the right combination of skills, location, and personality this can be done.

Not only that, I know it’s being done. and I want to show all the different ways it can be done.

Sorry, sometimes I get a little passionate about this kind of thing. More about me:

  • I love Jesus.
  • I love my wife Whitney.
  • I love Krispy Kreme Donuts.
  • I love teaching music as much as I love playing it.
  • I dream of leading bands, just around Florida, that do all sorts of interesting kinds of gigs.
  • I was offered an international tour and turned it down because it didn’t fit my life aspirations.

If you were looking for a “proper bio” you can find that here. But this site isn’t about me. It’s probably about you, though. If you’re a professional musician or you’d like to be, this site is about you.

I’m figuring things out just like you are. I’d love to walk along side you as a colleague and see where we can take each other. Maybe we can lift each other up and rise together.

If you sign up below, I’ll share a little bit about what I know with you weekly, and if you feel like it, you can share with me what you know.

Let’s lift each other up.

Practicality and positivity about making a living as a musician in your inbox. Weekly.
